Good judgment takes time to develop, even for superheroes. Take Malcolm, for instance. Within an hour of getting his powers, he trashes a classroom, shows off for the press, and has sex with a random woman after accidentally flying into her house. The woman does what anyone would do, under the circumstances. She takes a selfie with him and posts it on the internet (#windrunner).
In a world where valiant champions strive to protect what’s left of humanity against the threat of demons and sprytes, Malcolm cracks jokes, flirts with the enemy, and makes questionable life decisions. As a new member of the Champion Authority, he’s bound by honor to uphold their standards and guidelines… in theory.

Wind Runner Vanderbrook Champions Book 1 eBook Edmund Hughes Reviews
Awesome story and extremely well written
Can't wait for the next installment. The author has a bright future ahead of him
Great storyline
Not quite enough.
Great action scenes. I liked how the book shows the beginning of a superhero when he gets his power. It was a bit more graphic than I expected but I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.
*Spoiler Alert* Personally I didn't like the series that much. A lot of seemed to follow the whim of the Author where there are things he started in is writing and stopped or just dropped and never mentioned it again. It makes it seem random and patch work. I didn't like the MC because he made stupid decisions constantly to make the story progress it seems at times. And what is the point to a super hero book if that the world he is in would be a better place if he died randomly by braking his neck when he got his powers. The other characters where likable but then they go deranged or the MC pushes them away or alienates them more than not. He choses to support people who go crazy at times and kills tons of people because they seem nice at the time and total skips over how they are more like a disease then anything else. There are a lot of times when things didn't make sense in the premise in the world where he sort of just made things so to fit the plot. Then the ending is lack luster and it seems more like he just made it end and sort of made it nice in the end. The crazy people who kill people get organized and become there own part of the government.
Sorry but to me it makes a lot of it impractical for this to be as highly rated as it is. But I guess if you want a short series and have nothing else it's okay.
Edmund really tried to add a number of twists to the basic superhero tale. From where the powers come from, to side effects that could have come from the manga Claymore, to having a character with incredible levels of regeneration.
You'd think with all of that, I'd not find the tale itself to be depressingly uninspiring. And the characters were all very flat and lacking in the nuance that makes characters interesting to read. It was a tale that took chances, but in my opinion the chances were not followed up in the development of the plot or the characters. They set everything up, but then the word was painfully static the rest of the way.
It was enjoyable, but also very forgettable. Nothing stuck with me past the disappointment that the tale just lacked that big hook to draw me in
Clever new origin for supers, good fight scenes, really enjoyed the whole Malcolm/Rose dynamic.
Will definitely be reading the sequel.
